In Brief

DIRECT-DEBIT collection of rent at Napier owned flats has been branded “a shambles” by Napier Students’ Association (NSA), after it was revealed that some students were still waiting for their rent to be taken from their bank accounts.

Speaking at the recent student senate, several students expressed their anger that rent had not been debited from their accounts when it was supposed to. In several instances two months rent had not been deducted from bank accounts. This had led to confusion, with some students overspending, or spending money they didn’t have.

NSA President, Angela Mitchell, said: “It’s a shambles and it’s not good enough.”

PROFESSOR Patricia Peatie, in-charge of the Sighthill campus, allegedly ignored an E-mail regarding problems with the multi-faith prayer room at the campus. Neil Freshwater, Napier Students’ Association (NSA) Campaigns and Representations Sabbatical, claimed an E-mail he sent the professor containing student concern over aspects of the room had been deleted without being open.

NAPIER Students’ Association (NSA) are to hold a protest at the Craighouse campus on Monday the 9th of December from 3pm, when they will present the ‘Save our Sports’ petition to the outgoing university principal, John Mavor. Treasurer and Student Activities Sabbatical, Lydia Jeffery, said that the campaign had been “getting good publicity”, with the Edinburgh Evening News and Veritas running articles on the issue recently.
